Antiestrogenic drug of non-steroidal structure. The mechanism of action is due to specific binding to the estrogen receptors of the ovaries and pituitary. With a low amount of estrogens in the body, it shows a moderate estrogenic effect, with a high amount – an antiestrogenic effect. In small doses, it increases the secretion of gonadotropins (prolactin, FSH and LH), stimulates ovulation; in high doses, it inhibits the secretion of gonadotropins.
It has no gestagenic or androgenic activity.
